CWMORTHIN  by   GARETH MARTIN

Gareth Martin

Gareth Martin, AWPF, CPAGB

I started photography in 1978 when I joined the Afan Camera Club and learnt the art of darkroom printing. During the following ten years, I became the youngest General Secretary in the Welsh Photographic Federation (WPF), but dropped out of club photography in 1987 when my own club folded.

1991 saw me married and back in photography. For the next ten years I was a member of Neath Photographic Society and Swansea Camera Club where I served on both committees as Programme Secretary and Competition Secretary. For six of those years I served as Judge and Lectures Secretary for the Welsh Photographic Federation, during which time I organised four seminars for judges.

I was awarded an Associateship of the WPF in 1997, with a panel of slides on the theme of 'rock concerts'. At that time I began entering UK based international exhibitions. In 2008 I was awarded Credit by the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (CPAGB) for a panel of prints. I am currently Chairman, Programme Secretary and Competition Secretary for the Port Talbot Camera Club.

I photograph anything but my two loves are Landscape and Candid Photography as I enjoy watching people. Lately I have been making small prints on 50x40 cm mounts and get great pleasure from doing lectures and live presentations.
