I was born in Malta in 1948.but only started taking photography seriously in 1996. At that time I was in need of a diversion from work, so I took an evening course to have something new to occupy my mind. This is how I found photography and eventually it found me.
My initial experience was in traditional photography and I built my own darkroom and started printing in monochrome . Until a couple of years ago I was spending all my spare time producing prints.
In 1997 I joined the Malta Photographic Society where I learned most of what I know and was influenced by the best photographers on the Island.
Around 2000 I joined the executive committee of the Society and presently hold the Vice-Presidency with the responsibility of organising the weekly programs.
During the past two years I have judged a number of internal competitions for our Society.
In 2005 I bought a Canon D20 digital camera and my photographic life has changed dramatically. I began studying digital imaging by going to courses, attending digital sessions at our Society and reading books on the subject.
I enjoy taking part in competitions locally as well as in International Salons. I have won most of our Society's trophies, especially the coveted Photographer of the Year, twice. I have had numerous International acceptances and won a few medals.
I am proud to have gained the distinction of AFIAP and last year was made an Associate of our Society. I have gained PSA 2* in Color Slides .
My main interests are in photographing people especially in action, such as music, dance and all sporting activities, as well as in portraiture.
Recently I have been using Photoshop and my imagination to create images.
