Victor Wah completed his senior education in 1960. He joined the Sabah State Information Office as a photographer. In 1963 he was awarded a state scholarship to study film making with the Malayan film unit. 1965 he was again awarded the Colombo Plan Scholarship to further his study in cinematography in London. In 1971 he was promoted head of the film service in Sabah Television Malaysia. In 1974 he joined a Danish firm as regional manager for Sabah, Sarawak and Brunei. He is active in promoting photography both in his hometown as well as other Asian regions. He is the Hon. President of the Federation of Asian Photographic Art, and advisor to the Society of World Ethnic Chinese Photographers. The state government honoured him with an ASDK-2nd grade and the King of Malaysia presented him with the AMN for his achievements in the field of photography.

He is a fellow of the Photographic Society of America; an Associate of the Royal Photographic Society of Great Britain; an Associate of the British Institute of Professional Photographers and an Associate of the Society of Indian International Photographic Council.

Hon Advisor (life) FACM; Hon FFACM; Hon FSSPC; Hon PSC; Hon FCPA, Hon FPS (Univ. Mississippi, US); Hon FMPC; Hon FSPPS; Hon FTPS; Hon FSPM; Hon FHKPC (la,us); FMPC. He is regularly invited to visit China by photographic clubs there.

He is the PSA country Representative for Malaysia and holds an APSA distinction.

In 1999 he was invited to Shanghai as one of 50 top photographers to photograph “Shanghai through the eyes of the world’s top photographers”.

He was the founder, in 1978, of Kinabalu Photographic Club in Sabah. He is also the founder of the Sabah Professional Photographers’ Society. He is currently their president.
