Heng Sun Kok, Chinese, ancestry, originally from Zhongzhan, Guangdong, China. He was born in Macau in 1936 and has worked as an amateur photographer for more than forty years.
He was one of the founders, and board members of the Chinese International Literature and Art Association and also its contracted director in Macau. He was also the 3rd International Salon’s Chairman of the Photographic Association of Macau in 1985. When the Foto-Art Association of Macau was founded in 1986, he was the Founding Director and he presently sits as Honorary Director of that association. Between 1999 and 2004, he was the Director of the Macau Camera Lens Art Association. He acts as its Honorary Life Director since his retirement from the Director’s position.
Hecontinues to be vice-president of the FAPA Hong Kong and Macau Chapters, PSA International Representative in Macau, representatives and consultant of PSNY, PSC, Australian Chinese Photographic Association, and Photographic Association of Sabah in Malaysia, Chinese Kuanzhou Provincial Art Photographic Association, Zhuhai Overseas Chinese Photographic Association, and etcetera.
During the period of 1983 and 1985, he acquired Who’s Who Top 10. By the time of 1987, he also obtained PSA Three Stars and FPSA in the year of 1997, the Excellent Service Award by PSNY in the year of 1990, PSNY Honorary Photographic Promoter in the year of 1999, the Best Chinese Photographer, the Excellent Honorary Merit Member by Beijing International Chinese Culture and Art Association in 2005. His works were being invited to be enshrined everlastingly by APS in 1983, by PSA in 1989, by IIPC in 1992, by Hong Kong Art House in 1997, by Diafagma Foto, S.L. (Spain) in 2001. In the years of 2001 and 2002, his works were also being invited as everlasting enshrinements at Hong Kong Art Museum and Tokyo International Photographic Group (Japan), etcetera. His main works are including Another Dimension, Picturesque Scene, Country Girl, Morning Mist, Prayer, Silence, Lights and Shadows, Live And Still and many more. When the master of international photography Mr. Ching San Long organized his “Seminar of Achievement in Photographic Compositions” in Hong Kong, 1992, Mr. Kok was one of the invited speakers in that seminar. One year later, FAPA scheduled the 14th Board Meeting to be held in Macau. He also was the Meeting Chairman of the meeting when he was representing Macau to attend the FAPA International Meetings as a member and a counseling member in Sabah of Malaysia (1988), in Taipei (1990), in Bangkok of Thailand (1992), Brunei (1994) and Hong Kong (1996).
1985 till 2005, Mr. Kok had hosted his personal photographic exhibitions or joined into other artists exhibitions in Japan, Germany, Korea, Singapore, Australia, New York (USA), Malaysia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Guangzhou (China), Zhongzhan (China), etcetera. Furthermore, during the above-mentioned period, there are many photographic magazine, newspapers in the United States, Malaysia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, New York (USA), Beijing (China), India, Australia … had published his photographs and essays. The most important essays by Mr. Kok are: Methods In Adjusting And Controlling Strong Contrast Negatives During The Procedure Of Black And White Films Development, Basic Regulations To Photographic Composition, Photography and Life, Infra-red Photography (Monochrome), Technique About Lotus Shooting, Mystical Rhythm Of Yuanyang, A Feeling Of Light And Shade and so on. Within this period, he also acted as judge of many international salon exhibitions or all kind of photographic exhibitions, which were hosted in Malaysia, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Zhuhai (China), Zhongzhan (China) and many other areas. His biography and brief introduction have been printed on “World Artists Biographies”, “Internal And External Greatest Masters Collections”, “Outstanding People’s Dictionary of Chinese Contemporary Literature and Art,; “Photographic Encyclopedia”, “World Cultural Big Shots Dictionary”, “Macau Encyclopedia”, “The New Edition of Photographic Encyclopedia”, etcetera. His honoraries are including FPSA, FRPS, AFIAP, ABIPP, Hon. EFAPA, FPSEA, Hon. FPSNY, FPSC, FPSM, Hon. FMCLA and more.
