Patrick Siu
Patrick W.C. Siu, APSA, ARPS(87), Hon FBSC, HonFCAPS, HonFAAPSEAPatrick has been involved in photographic activities in Hong Kong since 1968.
He emigrated to Canada on April 21st.,1972.
After the Expo '86 in Vancouver there was a 21-gun salute for Queen Elizabeth in honour of her birthday. Patrick was part of a photo shoot organised for the Royal plane's departure during which he chatted with the Queen and Prince Philip. He also photographed Prince Charles, and Lady Diana. .
In April, 1991, when the former president Bill Clinton met the Russian president Boris Yeltsin in Vancouver, Canada , Patrick was able to photograph them together from a few feet away! Bill Clinton later sent him a letter of thanks.
Patrick was also an official photographer when the President of China,: the Chief of the Chinese Communist party and their delegation visited Canada.
Patrick has photographed five Prime Ministers of Canada
He joined PSA in 1983, and won his first PSA gold medal in that year from the New York Color Slide Club.
He won a trip across Canada for two in 1984 (estimated value $US 6000).
He has won cameras as first prize in several photo competitions.
He now has hundreds of photographic awards: PSA gold medals, FIAP gold medals, as well as numerious Salon medals and honours.
Patrick has served as Chairman, of Salons, camera clubs, and as an advisor and salon Judge.
He still sends photos for publication to local newspapers and over seas magazines.
